While dissembling clean complete assembly by compressed air & fine emery. Use cloth to remove dirt/dust. For copper parts cleaning 10% normal commercial HCL can be used. 2 - Dismantle each assembly as follows. - Unscrew M16 bolts (Part No.19 & 26) to remove cooling water pipe - Unscrew 12 nos. M16 bolts (Part No.33 & 25) & dismantle bus connection short tube, water cooled steel cap & copper cap. - Unscrew 12 Nos. M 20 studs (Part No.11 & 36), dismantle insulators, bottom setting flange. - Unscrew 12 Nos. M 20 bolts (Part No.29 & 16) & dismantle water cooled sleeve. - Remove expansion rubber bellow (Part No.22). 3 - Clean all these dismantled parts by Cloth/air.,, 4,,After dismantling check all the spares as per dimensions/standards.,, 5,,After cleaning, checking & confirming all the parts within the allowable tolerances assembly can be started as follows. 1. Keep SS external sleeve on flat wooden surface resting. 2. Fix 12 nos. M20 studs (A 23528 -01) on SS external sleeve with tightening torque of 20 Kg-M. 3. Insert flat washers & disc spring washers (A 23519 -17) in all the 12 nos. M20 studs CLECIM DRG.A 23519. 4. Insert insulating barrels (A 23539 -05), spring set flange (A23528 -04), insulators washers (A 23539-06) & remaining disc spring washers (A23519 -17) as shown in Clecim Drg A23519. 5. Fix lock nut (A23519 -34) & nut (A 23519 -35) as shown in Clecim Drg. A23519. 6. Tight the lock nut maintaining 119.2mm distance between spring set flange & SS external sleeve top. Use 119.2mm gauges for checking the distance at 4 different points while tightening. 7. After maintaining the distance 119.2mm by tightening all the 12 nos locknuts, tight main nuts for locking locknuts without disturbing the distance maintained. After tightening main nut check the distance once again for confirmation. 8. Clean O ring grooves of external sleeve & fix 2 nos ‘O’ ring (A 23519-30) & 1 No. O ring (A 23519-15) in SS external sleeve by applying graphite grease. 9. Fix 2nos M16 eye bolts on spring set flange & lift the spring assembly with external sleeve with crane & insert it on to w. c. copper sleeve which was kept rested on flange by matching M20 fasteners fixing holes. Be careful while inserting external sleeve on to w. c. copper sleeve to avoid damage of O rings of external sleeve. 10. Fix M20-12 nos bolt (A23519 -29) with specified washer (A23519 -16) for fastening w. c. copper sleeve with external sleeve. Do tightening at 15Kg-M torque with torque wrench. A23537. 12. Again lift the spring assembly along with w. c. copper sleeve & external sleeve with crane & keep it on bottom setting flange as shown in Clecim Drg. -A23519. 13. Insert cup insulators (A23539 -03) & 12mm thick metallic washers (A23528 -02) in all M20 studs of bottom setting flange as shown in Clecim Drg.-A23537. 14. Fix M20 nuts (A23519 -36) & tight it at 40 Kg-M torque, with torque wrench. 15. Make the complete above sub-assembly up side down by lifting with crane & keep it on billet assembly table in such a way that the assembly will be under the table & rested on inner face of the bottom setting flange. 16. Make the another sub-assembly ready consisting of bus connection short tube (A23526-01), w. c. copper cap (A 23524-04), w. c. SS cap (A23525-01) & water piping (A 23527-01) With 2nos. O rings (A23519-31) & 2nos. O rings (A23519-32) using M16 bolts (A23519-19) as shown in Clecim Drg.-A23519. Tightening the bolts at the torque of 20 Kg-M with torque wrench. 17. Keep this short bus connection sub-assembly under the table. 18. Prepare billet by fixing M14x235 long studs (A23524-A2) & M14x270 long studs (23524-B2) considering the thermocouple hole as reference (fix M14x235 long studs on each side of the thermocouple hole & fix M14x270 long studs in rest of the 5 nos. tapings.) 19. Lift the billet (A23524-01) with crane & insert in bottom setting flange sub-assembly, kept on the table. Lower the billet till it comes out of the sub-assembly from bottom. 20. Match the bus connection short tube sub-assembly, by considering matching of DN65 pipe flange of SS external sleeve & DN65 flange of water piping. 21. Fix 12nos. M16 X 50 long bolts (A23519-33) with washers (A23519-25) connecting short bus connection tube sub-assembly with spring set flange. Also fix 15 nos. M14 nuts (A23519-14) with washers (A23519-3) on M14 studs of billet. 22. Tight M14 nuts at 20Kg-M torque & fix locknut afterward. 23. Tight M16 X 50long bolts at 15 Kg-M torque. 24. Fix DN65 rubber expansion joint (A23519-22) between SS external sleeve pipe flange & water piping flange as shown in Clecim Drg.- A 23519. 25. Blind DN65 external sleeve outlet pipe flange & fill water from bus connection short tube. Ensure air should not get entrapped inside. Hydro test at 10bar pressure for 2 Hrs. Confirm no water leakage. 26. After successful hydro-test remove water from the assembly & flush the assembly with compressed air. Fix protection cover (A23530-02) for rubber expansion joint. 27. After making the assemblies ready, ask EMD for megger test & note down the results of individual assembly. Standard insulation resistance value: 1 Mega ohms 28. Shift 4 BE assemblies from workshop to TU bay bottom plate assembly area. 29. Assemble all 4 BE assemblies in bottom plate with new insulators, Lead prevention plate & Spiral wound gasket. Lead prevention plate is used to collect & drain the lead contained in the scrap. 30. Prepare the bottom plate with good conditioned pins & disc springs. 31. Back flushing is done after assembling the bottom plate to shell.,, 6,,Shift the removed Equipment / Scrap to designated repair area / Scrap Area.
