For Electrical Engineering Laboratory At Canning Government Polytechnic- 1 Use voltmeter, ammeter, wattmeter, p.f meter to determine line and phase quantities of voltage and current for balanced three phase star and delta connected load and calculate active, reactive, and apparent power. Draw phasor diagram. 2 Extend range of ammeter and voltmeter by using (i) shunt and multiplier (ii) CT and PT. 3 Use voltmeter and ammeter method / Wheatstone bridge for measurement of medium resistance. 4 Measure unknown inductance using Anderson bridge. 5 Measure unknown capacitance using Schering bridge. 6 Plot the O.C.C. of a D.C. generator & find the critical resistance. 7 Perform the brake test on DC series motor. 8 Perform parallel operation of two single phase transformers to determine the sharing of load current, apparent and real power. 9 Study and check the connections (vector grouping) of three phase transformers 10 Test the proper functioning of DIAC to determine the break over voltage. 11 Test the variation of R, C in R and RC triggering circuits on firing angle of SCR. 12 Test the effect of variation of R, C in UJT triggering technique 13 Perform the operation of Class – A, B, C turn off circuits. 14 Perform the operation of Class – D, E, F turn off circuits. 15 Perform speed control of DC series / DC separately excited motor using SCR. 16 Perform speed control of 3-phase Induction motor using PWM inverter. Interpret speed-torque characteristics. Use variable voltage variable frequency drive. 17 Test the performance of given UPS. 18 Demonstrate various system faults by D.C. network analyzer. 19 Study of transmission/distribution simulator using power transmission trainer 20 Control the speed of the given three phase squirrel cage induction motor using the applicable method - VVVF. 21 Conduct the direct load test to determine the efficiency and speed regulation for different loads on the given single phase induction motor; plot the efficiency and speed regulation curves with respect to the output power. 22 Conduct the test on load or no load to plot the ‘V’ curves and inverted ‘V’ curves (at no-load) of 3-phase synchronous motor. 23 Test HRC fuse by performing the load test 24 Test MCB by performing the load test 25 Dismantle MCCB/ELCB/ RCCB and identify various parts 26 Testing of static distance protection relay using Relay Testing Kit. 27 Testing of percentage Differential Protection of Transformer Using Transformer Differential Relay (Electromagnetic/Microprocessor based/ static). 28 Simulate differential protection scheme for transformer with power system simulation kit. 29 Demonstrate the operation of single phasing preventer by creating single phasing fault for a given 3-ph induction motor with D.O.L. starter. 30 Measure the output voltage of chopper for resistive load by varying the frequency and /or duty cycle of chopper. 31 Observe the effect on speed of the given D.C. separately excited motor/DC series motor by varying voltage using step down chopper. 32 Make & test the control and power circuit for automatic star -delta starter operation of sq. cage induction motor using contactor control 33 Experiment to determine the reduction in power consumption in star mode operation of Induction motor compared to delta mode at different load conditions 34 Perform experiment to determine the reduction in power consumption by replacement of Fans and regulators in a class room / laboratory 35 Measure the flow using flow meter (Electromagnetic/ turbine). 36 Use op-amp(IC -741) as instrumentation amplifier. 37 Break Down Voltage test of transformer oil. 38 Analog A.C Ammeter :0-1-5A 39 Analog A.C Ammeter : 0-5-10A 40 Megger (Insulation Tester) 41 Rheostat 42 Rheostat 43 Three Phase Load Box (Resistive Type) 44 True RMS Clamp Meter 45 Laboratory Transformer 46 Fully Automatic Star-Delta Starter 47 Single Phasing Preventer 48 Test the proper functioning of power electronic switches – SCR, IGBT, SCS and TRIAC. 49 Demonstrate High power SCR/power device and Heat sink and write their specifications and rating. 50 Effect on speed of given D.C. series motorby varying armature voltage using step down chopper.
