The test medium used and the test pressure shall be in accordance with the project Line Designation Schedule. Suitable precautions shall be taken during pressure tests to eliminate hazards to personnel in case piping under test ruptures. Provision for release of excess pressure due to thermal expansion of the test fluid shall be made. Pressure testing shall be carried out only after the completion of post weld heat treatment and non-destructive testing of welds. Equipment which do not forms a part of the pressure test shall be disconnected or a blank used at the equipment connection. Valves may be used for the purpose after checking with the PURCHASER that the valve closure is suitable for the proposed test pressure. The core pipe in a jacketed piping system shall be tested before the jacket is completed unless the core welds are permanently exposed. Where pneumatic testing is involved particular care shall be taken as the testing involves the hazard of stored energy of compressed air. A pressure relief device shall be provided, by the CONTRACTOR, having a set pressure not higher than the test pressure plus the lesser of 3.5 kg/cm2 or 10% of the test pressure. The test pressure shall be first raised to one-half the final test pressure or 1.75 kg/cm2g whichever is less, at which time a preliminary check shall be made of the system. Thereafter, the pressure shall be gradually increased in steps until the test pressure is reached, holding the pressure at each step long enough to equalize piping strains. The pressure shall then be reduced to design pressure before examining for leakage. After satisfactory completion of the leak test, the system shall be gradually depressurized and the test liquid completely drained. High point vents and low point drains shall be used during the filling and draining operations of hydrotest. The following items shall be removed from the systems to be pressure tested: (a) Relief valves and rupture discs (b) Orifice plates, flow nozzles or other similar restrictions (c) Flanged venturi type flowmeters (d) Flanged control valves (for welded control valves internals shall be removed) (e) Flanged check valves (f) All instruments (g) All items not designed to withstand the test pressure. (In lines with expansion joints, system test pressure shall not exceed expansion joint test pressure). (h) Internals of strainers and filters In lines with untied expansion joints, all anchors, guides, directional anchors and supports shall be installed prior to hydrotest. In lines with tied expansion joints, the tie rods and nuts shall be in Page 5 of 6 ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited AM/NS HAZIRA PLANT 27th KM, Surat-Hazira Road,,HAZIRA,394270,Gujarat,India GSTIN 24AAACE1741P1ZN PAN AAACE1741P CIN U27100GJ1976FLC013787 Request for Quotation Number 6000116275 Date 06.07.2024 Submission Date 15.07.2024 Coll Req No AMNS deals with OEMs directly. If foreign materials have entered the pipe or pipe component, they shall be removed immediately before the assembly of the parts by a suitable cleaning method such as wire- brushing, blowing through with air or degreasing using a suitable cleaning agent or solvent. Before cleaning with a solvent, the PURCHASER shall be consulted regarding suitability of the agent especially when alloy or stainless steels are involved. Wire brushes used on stainless steel parts shall be of stainless steel. All air lines and all lines which are hydrotested and pneumatically tested shall be blown with clean dry air to remove water from tested pipe section.
