The Ministry Of Water, Land, And Resource Stewardship, Terrestrial Species Recovery Branch Is Seeking Bids From Qualified Contractors To Conduct Services Related To Marbled Murrelet Population Surveys By Radar In Coastal British Columbia. The Focus Of This Rfp In Fiscal Year 2025-2026 Is To Complete Surveys At 10-15 Stations In The Haida Gwaii Conservation Region. We Anticipate That The Contract Could Be Renewed Over The Next Two Fiscal Years If Funding Is Available, And That The Value Of The Contract In Future Years Could Vary Depending On The Location And Remoteness Of Survey Stations Selected For Sampling.The Successful Proponent Will Conduct Dawn Radar Surveys Following Risc 2006 Standards To Assess Abundance Of Murrelets At Candidate Radar Stations. Radar Surveys Will Be Conducted 3 Times Per Station (Over 2 Visits Separated By 6 Days, 1 Visit Having 2 Consecutive Survey Days), With Concurrent Audio-Visual Surveys As Per The Risc Standard. The Objective Of This Project Is To Estimate Murrelet Population Size To Contribute To Conservation Region And Coast-Wide Population Trend Monitoring.
