Tenders are invited for APA Battery Management Module Based on Gan Transistors. Open Date: 11/04/2025 12:35 CET Closing Date: 12/05/2025 13:00 CET Price Range: 200-500 KEURO The Advanced Power Architecture (APA) is a standard concept for the Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit (PCDU). APA follows the interoperable and interchangeable modularity approach applied for the project ADHA (Advanced Data Handling Architecture) that started in 2020. APA will be fully compatible with ADHA so that together they will form the kern of a satellite Platform. As ADHA, APA is composed of two elements: a standardized Unit rack (element 1) that providesstandard services to a set of Power Modules (element 2) that populates the rack to make an APA PCDU. The power unit can be built upon modules from different manufacturers, based on performances, cost, programmatic constraints. This approach allows strong reduction of development time and recurrent costs, fast development and adoption of more performingtechnologies to name a few in great part enabled by the envisaged interoperable and interchangeable modules that compose the system. The definition the Advanced Power Architecture and related Standardization and of the development of the APA element 1 (rack product) is being addressed in a dedicated activity funded by the Preparation Element of the DPTD and by the Future EO Program (ESA/IPC(2022)1,add.42).The modules that compose the element 2 of the APA are subject to several TDE activities. Element1 outputs (APA Unit requirements and standard requirements for APA Modules) will be used asinputs to Element 2 activities. Element 2 outputs (APA Modules) will then be used as input to Element 1 (for the validation of standard power modules requirements and overall APA architecture). This activity is devoted to the development of an APA battery management module to provide functions to monitor the battery health, estimate the state of charge, passivate the battery at end of life, implement battery charge and discharge concepts to minimize the battery degradation, based on reliable controller. The use of GaN transistor switches shall be favored in order to minimize power losses and minimize size and volume. This activity encompasses the following tasks:- Consolidation of APA Requirements (generic and specific modules)- Evaluation of the most promising technologies/components- Preliminary and detailed design definition- Manufacturing and testing the module- Issue Module Design documentation, Module Technical Specification and User Manual- Contribution to the APA Unit integration and test, including standard APA documentation and interoperability/interchangeability test.
