Within The Project, The Existing 5G Test Infrastructure Is Expanded To Include Devices For The Entire University Campus For Research Activities, So That A System With Around 30 Radio Cells For Indoor And Outdoor Areas Is Created In Several Phases. Outdoor Cells Are Intended To Enable A Nationwide Cover Of The Campus Site. The Radio Cover Is Supplemented By Additional Indoor Cells In Buildings Of The Tu Ilmenau. Technically, The Radio Access System Is Based On An Openran Architecture. The Network Is Operated In Stand-Alone Mode, Whereby The Core Network Consists Of A Flexible Serving Architecture. The Architecture Thus Supports The Easy Expandability And Flexibility Of The Network. This Flexibility And Expansion Of The System Is Particularly Important For Research On 5G And 6G Itself, But Also For Adjustments To Specific Fields Of Application.
