Tenders are invited for Phase A of a High Resolution Imager for Moon and Mars Exploration Applications - Expro plus. Open Date: 25/02/2025 11:05 CET Closing Date: 08/04/2025 13:00 CET Price Range: 200-500 KEURO This activity covers a feasibility study at Phase A level for a high-resolution imaging system that is applicable to Mars and potentially Moon exploration.High-resolution imagery of the surface of the Moon and Mars has been identified by HRE as needed for generation of key data products (maps digital elevation models for site selection, navigation and hazard identification) required for future exploration missions. These will be used to assess potential future landing sites and provide essential information for precision landing. At the Moon, a surface mapping capability could be additionally used for real-time monitoring of human and robotic activities and providing operational support to astronauts on the surface. The LightShip-1 mission has been identified as the first of several infrastructure missions that will carry passenger spacecraft to Mars and, following passenger separation, will provide communication and navigation services to surface and orbital users from a high-altitude service orbit. The first Passenger Spacecraft hasbeen identified as SpotLight, a low orbiting spacecraft. SpotLight will embark a high-resolution imager and a context imager, providing high resolution images (<25cm/pixel) of Mars. This instrument would be a new capability for Europe at Mars and is strategically important to HRE and for the LightShip-1 mission. The overall objective of this activity is to perform a preliminary design and derisking study for the SpotLight payload suite in order to establish its feasibility, ending with a Preliminary Requirements Review.
