REnew Pacific is a A$75M program over 4.5 years. It aims to scale and expand on the critical lessons learned in the DFAT-funded Business Partnerships Platform (BPP) pilot to support DFAT and the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) to address climate infrastructure mitigation, adaptation and resilience among Pacific states and help Australia be the climate infrastructure partner of choice in the Pacific. Purpose of Positi on The First Nations Adviser will assist the REnew Pacific program in seeking opportunities to embed the perspectives of First Nations Australians. The First Nations Adviser will assist in developing and supporting implementation of the REnew Pacific First Nations Participation Plan which will prioritise the engagement and empowerment of First Nations Australian businesses in the program. The role is part time for up to 20 days per year. Primary Responsibilities The First Nations Advisor will: Develop and support implementation of the REnew Pacific First Nations Participation Plan, including outlining specific, measurable deliverables and targets related to workforce employment and supply chain inclusion Assist REnew Pacific in engaging and empowering First Nations Australian businesses in the program, working with the First Nations networks in clean energy and international development Facilitate peer-peer engagement for learning and regional integration purposes, seeking opportunities to support learning between Indigenous stakeholders operating in both remote, off-grid Australian and Pacific-Island contexts Work with Palladiums implementing partners to support an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander internship/early career role in the REnew Pacific program Ensure that First Nations businesses (through the Indigenous Procurement Process) are actively considered and integrated into the projects operations Ensure that First Nations perspectives are actively considered in review of grant applications Provide training to the REnew Pacific team and other program partners on First Nations participation and pertinent issues Providing advice, input and support as may otherwise be required and where requested by the REnew Pacific team Reporting Requirements This role reports into the Team Leader. Reporting requirements may include but are not limited to: Reporting to the Deputy Team Leader during Team Leader absences Minimum Education and Experience Required Relevant professional and academic experience in First Nations business engagement or similar roles Excellent verbal and written communication skills Experience in the context of off-grid renewable energy desirable Experience working with the private sector on First Nations engagement Experience working in the Pacific region or Timor-Leste Proven ability to design, develop and implement First Nations Participation Plans Demonstrated initiative and an ability to work independently with limited supervision Desirable: Understanding and experience working with international development programs Desirable: Experience working on DFAT-funded programs and familiarity with Australian government reporting and First Nations engagement requirements Core Capabilities Palladiums Core Capability Framework for APAC Projects outlines the standard of performance and behaviours expected at each level within the organisation.
