Expression of Interest are invited for Consultancy Services for Small Hydro Powerplant Potential Reconnaissance Study in Papua New Guinea This assignment involves providing consultancy services to support the World Bank in advising the government of Papua New Guinea (PNG) on addressing its energy challenges by exploring small hydropower plant (HPP) projects. The purpose of the consultancy is to conduct a detailed desktop assessment study to identify and evaluate potential small hydropower sites using various available studies related to least-cost power development plans, grid extension plans, demand forecasts, and site surveys. 2. Scope of Work: The consulting firm will be responsible for: a) Collecting and reviewing existing reports, data, and information from PPL and other sources. b) Conducting a desktop study to update assumptions, analyze available data, and identify data and information gaps. c) Surveying and analyzing potential sites using topographic maps, GIS data, and remote sensing data. d) Performing high-level preliminary designs and cost estimates. e) Conducting economic and financial analyses, including life-cycle costs. f) Reviewing and recommending updates to the power development plan based on potential HPP development. g) Conducting a preliminary high-level environmental and social impact evaluation. h) Estimation of greenhouse gas reduction potential. i) Identification of main risks and possible mitigation measures. j) Preparing a draft scope of work for a pre-feasibility study for each small HPP.
