Tenders are invited for Humanitarian Lead for Gaza Transition Team. Closing Date: 15 Mar 2025 The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) seeks a seasoned humanitarian who deeply understands our mission and values to lead a dedicated 36-month transition team to support a shift from short-term emergency relief to longer-term relief and recovery. This includes creating the infrastructure for the Rebuilding Gaza Volunteer Program. This is a Consultant position based in Gaza that could become long term. The Gaza program is vital to support recovery efforts following the recent cease-fire, providing critical and rebuilding infrastructure. The position will work with the Middle East Regional Director and Palestine team to enable Gaza teams to rest and recover. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Coordination: Guide a team of experienced staff and volunteers in implementing humanitarian projects, including food distribution, youth or educational support, and infrastructure rebuilding. Program Implementation: Ensure timely, effective, and culturally sensitive delivery of aid and services aligned with AFSCs principles and the needs of the local population. Engagement and Representation: Act as the primary liaison with local communities, stakeholders, and partners, embodying the Quaker commitment to peace, justice, and the inherent worth of every individual. Wellness Support: Provide space and support to Gaza team, creating space for them to recover from the exhaustive demands of prior relief efforts. Qualifications: Humanitarian Expertise: At least 15-20 years of experience in humanitarian aid, disaster relief, or community development. Language Proficiency: Fluency in Arabic preferred. Familiarity with the cultural and social landscape of Gaza required. Alignment with AFSC Values: A strong commitment to nonviolence, equality, and the Quaker principles of justice and peace. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead diverse teams in challenging environments, with a focus on empathy, resilience, and collaboration.
