Tenders are invited for Disruptive Technologies for Decentralized Storage and Provenance of EO Data - Expro+. Open Date: 22/01/2025 16:16 CET Closing Date: 20/02/2025 13:00 CET Price Range: 200-500 KEURO The Earth Observation (EO) sector is undergoing significant changes due to the digital revolution, which is reshaping the EO information value chain and influencing both downstream applications and space infrastructure. Important aspects such as security and integrity, decentralization and consensus, as well as transparency and traceability are essential and will be examined and implemented in the upcoming years. ESA intends to create new solutions utilizing disruptive technologies to establish secure, transparent, and reliable data storage and provenance mechanisms for EO data. This study aims at evaluating potential new applications and business opportunities for EO that these technologies could enable, ultimately benefiting the European EO industry, research and development, and the scientific community. While blockchain is a key example, the initiative remains open to exploring other technologies, with an emphasis on application-oriented solutions. The Agency plans to procure up to two contracts: one focused on Data Integrity, Provenance, and Tracking, and another on Decentralized Data Storage and Access. Each contract will involve building a software prototype for the selected topic, and the contractor shall demonstrate its added value, highlighting both quality performance and user adoptionperspectives. This activity is part of ESA efforts for Artificial Intelligence for Earth Observation (AI4EO), now integrated in the Foresight Element of FutureEO Block 4.
