Expression of Interest for Production Al-Co Foils and Wires. The JRC wants to purchase foils and wires of two Al-Co alloys with different composition. One alloy should be Al - 0.1 % Co, the other Al - 1 % Co (both m/m). They will be made from high-purity Al and high-purity Co, both provided by the JRC. The materials will be used as a basis for certified reference materials (CRMs) that serve as flux monitors in nuclear reactors. Typical users use 1-5 mg per use. To fulfil their role, it is important that the material is homogeneous ideally on a 1 mg level, meaning that the standard deviation of mass fractions of Co in various 1-mg portions is ideally below 1 %; the material is not contaminated by other metals during processing. Especially contamination by Cu, Fe, Ni and Mn should be avoided and ideally, the final mass fractions of Ni, Cu and Fe should be below 2 mg/kg This call is also open to candidates located in a country which is part of the Government Procurement Agreement (GPA) .
