Tenders are invited for Gateway Crew Exercise System - Study Phase. Price Range: 500 KEURO Open Date: 13/11/2024 11:28 CET Closing Date: 08/01/2025 13:00 CET Building upon NASA/ESA MOU concerning Cooperation on the Civil Lunar Gateway, ESA willcontribute with an Exercise and Physical countermeasure system for Gateway, on the basis ofthe technical expertise and operational know-how gained from the ISS E4D system. As such,Gateway crew exercise system is acknowledged by NASA as an ESA additional contribution, and will be the subject of an agreement with NASA for additional benefits. This development isalso to be seen as precursor of future human exploration missions, including Moon surface andMars excursions. The provided exercise and physical countermeasure capability will enable crew to safelyimplement Artemis Gateway mission objectives, including EVA and Lunar excursioncapabilities. The performance requirements will be defined jointly by ESA and NASA countermeasurespecialist teams, to be implemented by Industry within this activity. The project will also take into account the environment requirements of the Lunar Gateway (i.e. available exercise volume in HALO, power, data communication, ECLSS, launcher schedules, IsolationSystem placement etc.) as well as take into consideration the evolving Gateway requirements. It shall be noted that the Vibration Isolation and Stabilization System (VIS) is to be provided byNASA as CFI.Based on the above and due to the complexity associated with integrating multiplerequirements, ESA and NASA medical and development teams, the project will be organizedin the following phases: Open Competition for up to 3 parallel study phases, up to SRR level and including thedelivery of a basic mock-up model of the conceptual design, that will be used by theastronauts and medical team(s) to rate the different conceptual designs by means oftesting. Target completion date: Q2 2025 restricted competition among the companies selected in phase 1 will be carried out inQ3 2025 timeframe, aiming at selection of the contractor for the Implementation phaseby Q4 2025.
